Meet Robert

Robert Berner joined Vontobel Asset Management in October 2011 as a Research Analyst for the firm’s Quality Growth Boutique and was promoted to Senior Research Analyst in 2013. He is a generalist with a focus on ESG and engagement, working as an Investigative Business Analyst using journalistic skills to conduct research on current and potential portfolio companies and investment themes.

Prior to joining Vontobel Asset Management, from 2009 to 2011, he conducted investigative due diligence as a freelance reporter. From 2000 to 2009, he was a Senior Writer on the investigative team for BusinessWeek. Prior to that, from 1995 to 1999, he was a staff reporter for the Wall Street Journal. Robert Berner began his financial career in 1985 as a Business Writer for The Bennington Banner in Vermont. Throughout his career, he has received many journalism awards, including the 2009 Folio Magazine Gold Award for Editorial Excellence for “The Subprime Wolves are Back”. .

He received a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with a concentration in Economics from Oberlin College in Ohio.
