Meet Gianluca

Gianluca Ungari joined Vontobel in November 2015. Since 2024, he is Head of Hybrid Portfolio Management within Quantitative Investments, responsible for hybrid investment solutions, which follow the ‘human and machine’ approach. Previously, he was Head of Portfolio Management Italy.

Prior to joining Vontobel, from 2009 to 2015, he worked as Head of Total Return and Institutional – HNWI Desk at Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena. From 2004 to 2009, he was Head of Equity at AAA Sgr (Banca Antonveneta – Abn Amro). From 2001 to 2004, he was a senior fund manager at Nextra Investment Management Sgr (now Eurizon Capital Sgr), responsible for the global technology sector. He started his career in 1998 as a quantitative analyst at Fineco Sim.

Gianluca holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pavia and an MBA from the Imperial College School of Management, London.
