Meet Christian

Christian Hantel joined Vontobel in October 2015. He is Portfolio Manager/Analyst in the Developed Markets team of the Vontobel Fixed Income Boutique where is responsible for Global Corporate Bond portfolios. Christian is also an experienced global credit strategist and a seasoned analyst covering banking and various non‑financial sectors. With over two decades of experience in the financial industry, he has built a strong reputation, including for the Vontobel Fund – Global Corporate Bond. In 2023, the fund was awarded the FT Advisor Club 100 Award as the best fund in its category.

Prior to joining Vontobel, he was Senior Portfolio Manager at Swisscanto Asset Management AG from 2012 to 2015. In this role, he managed corporate bond funds as well as multi-currency institutional mandates. He was also lead analyst for various investment-grade and high-yield segments and corporate bonds, including those of emerging markets. From 2005, he worked at BNY Mellon Asset Management in Düsseldorf, heading the Credit Investment Grade team focusing on investment-grade and high-yield issuers, including the management of corporate bond funds. Before that, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Corporate Finance/M&A for several years as a senior consultant.

Christian holds a diploma in Business Administration from the University of Cologne and a Master's degree in International Management from CEMS-HEC Paris. In 2011, he obtained the Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA) qualification.
