Meet Luc

Luc D'hooge joined Vontobel in April 2013 where he launched the Emerging Markets Debt strategy and established the Emerging Markets investment team within the Vontobel Fixed Income Boutique. In April 2026, he retired from his portfolio management responsibilities and became an Advisor. Under his new role he continues to support the Emerging Markets team on day-to-day basis.

Prior to joining Vontobel, he was portfolio manager at Dexia Asset Management from 2000 to 2013, most recently as Head of Emerging Markets Bond Funds and before that as Head of Global Bond Funds. From 1993 to 2000, he was a portfolio manager and Head of Global Fixed Income at Bank Brussels Lambert. From 1989 to 1993, he worked as an engineer in petroleum exploration in Europe, the Middle East, and Angola.

Luc holds a master’s degree in Geology and Mineralogy from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium and a master's degree in Mining Engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique de Bruxelles – ULB. He is also a CFA® charterholder.
