Meet Ian

Ian Chun has been a Portfolio Manager for the Quality Growth Boutique since October 2021. He joined Vontobel Asset Management in May 2017 as a Research Analyst, assisting the Chief Investment Officer and portfolio managers in company research and stock selection. Since 2021, he expanded his role to Portfolio Manager for the firm’s Asia Equity strategy. In addition to his portfolio management responsibilities, he continues to conduct research analysis on individual stocks which may be included in the firm’s other strategies, primarily focusing on the Information Technology and Communication Services sectors.

Prior to joining Vontobel Asset Management, from 2013-2017 he was a Senior Research Associate at Sanford C. Bernstein covering the Payments, Processors & IT Services Industry, as well as the U.S. Telecommunications sector. Ian Chun previously held positions in quantitative research and development at Highbridge Capital Management (2010-2011) and Axiom Investment Advisors (2008-2010). He began his financial career in 2003 as a Senior Consultant at Accenture Capital Markets Solutions Group.

He received his Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School (with Dean’s Honors) in 2013 and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 2003. Ian Chun is a CFA® charterholder.
