Meet Francesco

Francesco Tarabini Castellani joined Vontobel in 1997. He is Head of Sales EMEA and was the driving force behind the expansion of his remit: In 1998, he was entrusted with developing fund distribution in Italy. One year later, he became responsible for the activities with institutional clients there and the respective investment funds. In 2003, he opened the Milan branch as Country Head Italy, began developing the activities with private clients there, and established a local portfolio-management unit. In 2011, he started transforming the Zurich-based Fixed Income team into an international fixed-income manager with mandates in global, corporate, and emerging markets bonds, including flexible fixed-income strategies. He also led the firm’s expansion in Iberia and Latin America by establishing selected and well-structured local sales teams, and he tapped the French market by opening the Paris branch. In 2020, he assumed responsibility for EMEA distribution, ex-Switzerland, and the sales teams dedicated to Italy, Iberia, France, Germany, the UK, the Nordics, and the Middle East.

Prior to joining Vontobel, he worked as a portfolio manager in Asset Management at Banca Popolare dell’Emilia-Romagna. Previously, he gained market experience in South Asia.

Francesco holds a degree in Economics and Commerce from the University of Modena.
