Vontobel Asset Management has become first list signatory of the UK Stewardship Code 2021.
The Code provides principles that institutional investors are expected to follow. The Code sets high stewardship standards for those investing money on behalf of UK savers and pensioners (asset managers), asset owners, and service providers (proxy advisers, investment consultants, and data providers).
The Code comprises a set of 12 ‘apply and explain’ Principles for asset managers and asset owners. To become a signatory to the Code, asset managers must submit to the Financial Reporting Council a Stewardship Report demonstrating how they have applied the Code’s Principles in the previous 12 months. This is reviewed and tested to ensure Asset Managers continue to apply the expected standards across all business.
